The call for abstracts for PHI*con, NACCHO’s inaugural conference specifically focused on Public Health Informatics, Surveillance, and Information Technology (IT), has closed. Aligned with the 2024 NACCHO360 Conference, PHI*con will take place on Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Huntington Place Convention Center in Detroit, Michigan.
This year’s theme, "Driving Data Modernization,” addresses how to effectively serve communities in today’s information-driven world and shows that public health – and its cross-sector partners – must advance and strengthen its informatics, surveillance, and IT capability to transform data into action (e.g., services, interventions, and policies). But forging that capability is no easy feat. Challenges such as underdeveloped and underfunded IT infrastructure, lack of training, and insufficient workforce capacity have made public health informatics and IT seem either intimidating or vastly inaccessible to most public health professionals.
Despite this, there is a role for informatics within every health department. The vision of PHI*con is to ensure every attendee leaves with actionable insights they can implement at their local health department. We can’t achieve that vision alone. We want to celebrate your achievements in informatics, surveillance, and IT and work as a public health community to solve the problems we all have.
The deadline for abstract submissions has closed. Abstracts submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Abstracts must be submitted electronically through the NACCHO website. Please contact Laura Harrison Palmer with any questions.
